🚨 Wat is er gebeurd?
Een man heeft in Frankrijk op mensen op straat geschoten. ÉÉN persoon is dood. VIER mensen zijn gewond. De schietpartij was op 23 oktober 2026.

De schietpartij was in Trappes. Trappes is een voorstad van Parijs. Het ligt in het zuidwesten, dicht bij Versailles. De dader zat in een voertuig. Hij schoot eerst in Trappes en daarna in La Verrière. Die plaats ligt naast Trappes.
De dader had een groot wapen. Volgens de Franse krant Le Parisien was het waarschijnlijk een machinegeweer.

Een man van 26 jaar is overleden. Een meisje van 12 jaar is gewond. Ook drie mannen van 20, 29 en 47 jaar zijn gewond. Deze slachtoffers liggen in het ziekenhuis. Het gaat heel slecht met hen.

📌 Where is Trappes? Trappes is a town in the Yvelines department, around 30 kilometres southwest of Paris and close to the famous Palace of Versailles. La Verrière and Coignières are small towns right next to it. Many people who work in Paris live in suburbs like these and travel to the city by train.
📌 A president AND a prime minister: France has two leaders at the top. President Emmanuel Macron is the head of state. Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu leads the government. The Netherlands works differently: King Willem-Alexander is the head of state, and the minister-president leads the government. In Dutch news, you often hear the shorter word premier for both the French and the Dutch prime minister.
📌 A special team against terrorism: In the original news, the team is called the PNAT (Parquet national antiterroriste). This is the French national anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office. France created it in 2019. When this office follows a case, it means the authorities see the attack as a possible act of terrorism.

The NOS used reports from two French media: the newspaper Le Parisien’s live report on the Trappes shooting and the TV news channel BFMTV’s coverage of the arrest and the investigation.
